General Practice Registrars

We are an accredited training practice and regularly have GP Registrars working in the surgery (qualified doctors who are here to gain experience in General Practice).

As with other doctors in the Practice, the GP Registrar holds surgeries and carries out home visits. Occasionally, you may be asked for your permission for the Registrar to video any consultation with you. Video recordings, once made, are used as part of the assessment procedure for the Royal College of General Practitioner examinations and for end-point assessment of General Practice training.

Please be aware that ANY video recording is carried out according to VERY strict guidelines issued by the General Medical Council. Videos:

> Are ONLY of you and the doctor talking together. Intimate examinations will not be recorded and the camera will be switched off at any time you wish.

> May only be seen by people directly involved in the examination or assessment and are used to assess the doctor whom you are consulting. Occasionally, and only after obtaining the express consent of the patient, video recordings may be used for research, learning and teaching purposes.

> Any recording will be securely stored and subject to the same degree of confidentiality as your medical records. The tape will be erased as soon as practicable and in any event within oneyear.
